JDC West 2019 Branding Guidelines

When creating the brand and feel for JDC West 2019, I wanted it to be more vibrant and playful than before. As the largest business competition in Western Canada and almost a 15-year-old legacy, the brand needed something that reflected that.

I started with a mood board that had a blend of retro designs paired with humanistic travel posters. Vector Graphics and emphasizing basic shapes were ideal to help communicate the retro brand. The bright colours and gradients were included to add contrast while staying true to JDC West's Parent Branding of blue and gold. The type needed to be visible and clear across multiple platforms but still be welcoming and bold which are some of the reasons why Brandon Grotesque and Montserrat were chosen.
