Learning from the Masters
I recently took an IAT class that had a focus on learning more about art. We learned from the bottom up about basic techniques from using a pencil to pens to mixed media. I think one of my favourite projects from that class was doing research on any three artists of our choice.
I was instantly grinning from ear to ear as I now had a chance to share my love for René Magritte, Edward Hopper, and Edvard Munch and their paintings. I loved their use of lighting, of insanity, and of loneliness.
Making this print booklet was often difficult, I didn't want to just throw things together. I wanted to showcase them with pride. It made me think about directing the eyes of my audience using the paintings and placement of text.
